AECEO Archives
The Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario (AECEO) is your professional association. Membership supports a strong, united voice for ECEs in our province. Joining is affordable and offers many benefits.
Individual memberships fall under the following categories: Professional, Professional Certified, Professional Retired, Student and Non-ECE. See below for details.
Professional: An individual with an OCATT recognized diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education obtained in Ontario, or its equivalent as determined by the AECEO. Requirements include: all applicants must provide a copy of a diploma or certificate, and proof of name change if applicable.
Professional Certified (ECE.C): An individual who meets the following three criteria: qualifies for professional membership; has successfully completed the AECEO’s Certification process, and has continuously maintained AECEO certified membership. For information regarding certification, click here
Professional Retired: A retired individual who previously held professional membership in the AECEO and has reached the age of 60. Requirements include providing proof of date of birth.
Student: An individual currently enrolled in an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology (OCAAT), or an Ontario university or training institution leading to their first AECEO recognized diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education. Maximum 4 consecutive years. Requirements include providing proof of current enrollment in ECE program.
Non-ECE: An individual interested in the field of Early Childhood Education who does not hold an AECEO recognized ECE credential or its equivalent. Representatives of businesses providing services or products to early learning programs are not eligible (contact the AECEO for details).

Exam Tips
The AECEO and L'AFESEO Letter of Equivalency Certificates are recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators as meeting the educational qualification component of the application process for membership in the College
