Reinstatement

AECEO Certification is a professional designation that recognizes the achievement and professional growth of our professional members working with children and families. It is encouraging to see the number of Certified AECEO members growing year after year.

A requirement of becoming and remaining Certified with the AECEO is that the Certified individual hold a Professional membership with the Association. Maintaining a membership with the AECEO is one indicator of your commitment to professional development and continuous growth. Certified members who are not able to maintain their membership are given a six month grace period in which their membership can be expired. Once this time period passes, the Certified status is revoked, as the individual is no longer a member of the AECEO.

In recent years, the AECEO policy stated that individuals who wished to reinstate a revoked Certification were required to undergo the current Certification Process as a new applicant.

After a review of this policy, and consultation with past and previous AECEO Certified members, we are pleased to announce a new reinstatement process for previously Certified members.

Eligibility for Reinstatement

In order for AECEO Certification to be reinstated, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

1. Current AECEO Professional membership. (Membership can be renewed at the time of application for reinstatement)

2. Proof of previous AECEO Certification.

3. Ability to demonstrate continuous involvement in the Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) field. (Through the submission of a short profile)

Short Profile

PLEASE NOTE: PROFILES WILL NOT BE RETURNED

Along with the application form, each applicant for reinstatement will submit a short profile outlining their continuous work in the field of ELCC during the time in which their membership with AECEO had been inactive.

Profiles must include the following items:

- Copy of previous Certification certificate or letter of completion (contact the AECEO Provincial Office if you do not have this documentation)

- Current resume

- A minimum of 2 letters of attestation or reference relating to recent work in the ELCC field. These letters should include the relationship of the author to you

- Documentation / Certificates or description of professional development workshops or courses you have attended within the last two years

- A listing or description of ongoing activities, including involvement in professional organizations

The AECEO would like to welcome back all previous members, and would encourage previously Certified individuals to become Certified once again.

If you have any questions regarding having your Certification reinstated, please contact Bernadette Summers at 416-487-3157 ext. 27 or bsummers@aeceo.ca.

A reinstatement fee of $75.00 is applicable.
